USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 Poll
Valencia moved its record to 20-1 on the season to remain atop the USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 Poll
, the association announced Thursday.
The second straight No. 1 ranking for Valencia marks a poll that saw little change from last week’s inaugural rankings.
The remainder of the top eight remained unchanged, with Buena (Ariz.) coming in second followed by Naples (Fla.). Camarillo (Calif.), one of three of the state’s teams in the top 10, stayed at No. 4 this week while Kennedy (Calif.) remained at No. 10.
Canyon del Oro (Ariz.) stayed at No. 5, followed by Central Cabarrus (N.C.), Justin Northwest (Texas) and Spruce Creek (Fla.) at Nos. 6-8, respectively. Smithson Valley (Texas) joined the top 10, moving up two places to No. 9 after Jesuit (Ore.) dropped to No. 11.
St. Amant (La.) remained in the 12th spot, followed by Red Mountain (Ariz.), Jacksonville Mandarin (Fla.) and Brentwood (Tenn.) at Nos. 12-15.
Burleson (Texas) remained at No. 16, just ahead of Niceville (Fla.) after it moved up one spot to 17th. North Canton Hoover also moved up one place this week, advancing to No. 18 with Sheldon’s (Calif.) two-spot fall to No. 19.
Broad Run (Va.) remained at No. 20, while Shadle Park (Wash.) progressed one place to 21st. South Florence (S.C.) made its poll debut at No. 22 after starting the season with a 25-game win streak.
Butler (N.C.), Piedra Vista (N.M.) and Layton (Utah) round out the top 25, which is released each Thursday during the season.
