Valencia (Calif.) remained atop the USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 Poll
for the eight consecutive week despite a top 10 that saw numerous changes, the association announced Thursday.
Second-ranked Camarillo (Calif.) dropped down to 19th, while Central Cabarrus (N.C.) dropped eight places to No. 12. Justin Northwest (Texas) also fell out of the top 10 after suffering its sixth setback of the season in the playoffs to fall to 21st.
moving up Canyon del Oro (Ariz.) to the No. 2 slot. Everglades (Fla.) vaulted up three places to third with a 29-2 mark, while Kennedy (Calif.) moved up three notches to fourth.
Sunnyside (Ariz.), Broad Run (Va.) and Sheldon (Calif.) all advanced three spots, claiming the fifth, sixth and seventh spots, respectively.
Spruce Creek (Fla.) jumped four notches into the top 10, landing at No. 8, while North Davidson (N.C.) moved into the rankings at No. 9 with a 29-1 mark. Another newcomer, Garland (Texas), debuted at No. 10 after starting compiling a 36-9-1 mark.
Buena (Ariz.) jumped one place to 11th, coming in two slots ahead of Shadle Park (Wash.) who advanced a place to No. 13.
South Florence (S.C.) advanced two places to No. 14 after finishing its season 33-0. Naples (Fla.) also jumped two spots, coming in at NO. 15.
Archbishop Mitty (Calif.) jumped into the top 20 this week, vaulting five places to No. 16. Bishop O’Connell follows immediately at No. 17 after slipping a spot from last week.
Another newcomer, Norco (Calif.), debuted at No. 18, just ahead of in-state foe Camarillo. Brentwood (Tenn.) also slipped in the rankings, falling seven spots to No. 20.
Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.) follows Northwest as it advanced one place to 22nd. Lakeland (Mich.), Vestavia Hills (Ala.) and Glenbard North (Ill.) round out this week’s rankings.
