Keller High School out of Keller, Texas, held on to the No. 1 spot in the latest USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 PollUSA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 Poll, the association announced Thursday. 

Keller earned its third consecutive week at the top after going 6-0 to move to 16-0 on the year. Moe Fritz’s squad ended the 2005 season in the top spot and started the 2006 season a week ago in the No. 1 position.

The rest of the top three remained unchanged this week as Cactus stayed at No. 2 with a 9-1 mark, while 3-0 Central Cabarrus held steady in third. 

Last week’s No. 4 team, Garland (Texas), dropped down to eighth at 14-2, allowing El Dorado to move into the No. 4 position and Palm Beach Gardens up one place to fifth. 

Ft. Bend Elkins in Texas jumped up to No. 6, while Escambia out of Florida moved up to No. 7. With Garland landing at No. 8, Canyon del Oro and Oakdale both fell to nine and 10, respectively. 

Tucson, Ariz., power Sabino stayed at No. 11, while Freedom out of Oakley, Calif., maintained the No. 12 position. Florida’s Chamberlain High School jumped one place to No. 13, while St. Amant out of Louisiana moved down to No. 14. Brenham (Texas) rounded out the top 15 again this week. 

With Valencia (Calif.) holding on to the No. 16 position for the second straight week, Bartow (Fla.) used a 10-0 start to jump one place to No. 17. Olathe-East fell one spot to 18th, while Sunrise Mountain jumped up three places to No. 19. El Toro (Calif.) moved into the top 20 at No. 20, a leap of three places from last week.

Regina (Mich.), Woodinville (Wash.), Oak Park and River Forest (Ill.), Southridge (Ore.) and Martinsville (Ind.) round out the top 25.
