USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 Poll

Central Cabarrus out of North Carolina ran its winning streak to 77 games to remain the top team in this week’s USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25 Poll, the association announced Thursday.

The top 10 remained unchanged through the top eight slots, with Keller (Texas) staying at No. 2 and Cactus (Ariz.) safe this week at No. 3.

Garland, one of three Texas teams in the top 10, held at No. 4, while Freedom topped the California squads in the fifth spot. Ft. Bend Elkins (Texas) and Bartow (Fla.) reclaimed Nos. 6 and 7, respectively again this week, while another Florida standout, Palm Beach Gardens, maintained its No. 8 status.

Two new squads appeared in the top 10 this week, with Sunnyslope (Ariz.) and El Toro (Calif.) moving up a pair of spots each to Nos. 9 and 10.

St. Amant (La.) took another step closer to another top 10 appearance as it jumped two places to No. 11. A pair of “Sunshine State” squads moved in opposite directions as Santa Fe moved up two places to No. 12 while Escambia fell four places to 13th. With the duo of Florida schools moving up and down, Chamberlain out of Tampa remained steady at No. 15. Canyon del Oro (Ariz.) also dropped out of the top 10, plummeting four spots to 14th.

Beecher (Ill.) maintained the No. 16 slot, leading a group of schools that maintained their ranking again this week. Buena (Ariz.) stayed at No. 17, while Kennedy (Calif.) and Bishop O’Connell (Va.) held the 18th and 19th spots.

St. Benedict (Tenn.) continued its upward climb, moving up one more place to 20th this week. St. Benedict’s move knocked Bradshaw Mountain (Ariz.) down one place to No. 21.

Olathe East (Kan.), Regina (Mich.) and Cave Springs (Va.) occupied Nos. 22-24, while Shadle Park (Wash.) joined the national ranks at No. 25.
