Unbeaten Archbishop Mitty (California) takes over the top spot in this week's USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25, released Thursday by the NFCA. The Monarchs captured the West Coast Athletic League tournament title this past weekend.

Mitty paces a California-dominated Top Five, which also includes second-ranked Sheldon, third-ranked Norco and fifth-ranked Freedom. Also in that grouping is fourth-ranked Canyon del Oro (Arizona).

Last week's No. 1, Klein Oak (Texas) fell 10 spots after dropping a pair of games to bow out of the Texas State Playoffs.

Meanwhile in Florida, Class 4A state champion Dunnellon moves up to eighth place, while Class 6A state champion Cooper City makes its 2009 poll debut at 13th.

Records for this week’s poll include all games played through May 16, 2009.
