LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has agreed to continue its joint membership initiative with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, which allows NJCAA Coaches Association members to also receive a NFCA membership (paid by the NJCAA Coaches Association). This is a five-year agreement and will run through 2030.
“I would like to thank the NJCAA for continuing to make a huge commitment to their softball coaches by offering a membership to our Association,” said NFCA CEO Carol Bruggeman. “Everyone wins with this new initiative. NJCAA coaches will have access to all NFCA benefits and the NJCAA will be helping grow the sport of softball. Special thanks to NJCAA Senior Vice President Michelle Meadows and NJCAA Board representative Lana Ross for their efforts in continuing this collaborative initiative."
Spearheaded by Rock Valley College Head Coach and Athletic Director Darin Monroe, the initiative came to fruition in early 2020 and has been a major success for both organizations. At the start of 2020, 151 (approximately 41 percent) NJCAA head coaches were members of the NFCA. Today, the number has risen to 315, more than doubling in percentage (86 percent) from five years ago.
At the time of the agreement, Monroe was also serving as the NJCAA Association’s president and on the NFCA Board of Directors as the NJCAA representative.
A longtime goal of the Association, the initiative immediately grew the NFCA’s NJCAA membership, but more importantly presented NJCAA coaches and their student-athletes the opportunity to have access to NFCA education, awards, events, networking opportunities and Convention scholarships.
The NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded student-athlete awards, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to awards, to in-person events and National Convention.
