LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Belhaven’s Allie Gordon and Linfield’s Tayah Kelley claimed the latest Division III Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors of the 2024 season on Tuesday.
Graduate student Gordon continued to extend her school home run and runs batted in records, adding four longballs and 15 RBI to her career ledger this week. The Macon, Ga., native went 12-for-24 (.500) over Belhaven’s eight games, with 10 runs scored, a double, two walks, a .519 on-base average and a 1.042 slugging percentage.
Kelley, meanwhile, earned her second national honor in the last three weeks after going 4-0 and tossing her third career no-hitter in a five-inning conference victory over Whitworth. The fifth-year senior from Myrtle Creek, Ore., won her first three starts and notched her other triumph in relief. For her 22 innings in the circle, Kelley fanned 34 and walked just three, while allowing seven hits (all singles) and one run (unearned) to further reduce her earned-run average for the season to 0.21.
Both were members of the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic All-Tournament team earlier this season.
