LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Christopher Newport’s Brooke Greaver and Hiram’s Darian Kanno claimed the latest Division III Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors of the 2025 season on Tuesday.

Graduate third baseman Greaver is the second straight Player of the Week honoree for the (17-1) Captains, who surged four places to third in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll following a 5-1 week at the Cross Bay Bash they co-hosted with Virginia Wesleyan.

The Abingdon, Md., native hit .500 (8-for-16) with two doubles, three home runs, two walks and nine runs batted in. She homered in a home loss to top-ranked East Texas Baptist and again in a victory over then-No. 16 Pfeiffer. Greaver’s other long ball came as part of the second of two 2-for-3 performances against George Fox.

Greaver’s Christopher Newport teammate Candace Slaw, was last week’s honoree.

Meanwhile, Kanno shined nearly as brightly at the plate as she did in the circle this past week. The senior right-hander was 4-0 with a shutout, 29 strikeouts, just 10 hits, seven walks and no earned runs over 28 innings pitched on defense and hit .583 with three doubles, a homer and eight RBI on offense.

The Mililani, Hawaii, product tossed two, two-hitters and a pair of three-hitters. Kanno fanned 10 and walked one over seven innings versus Western New England and struck out seven more against Wheaton (Mass.). She rounded out her week with four and eight strikeouts, respectively, in victories over Mount Union and Catholic.
