LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following undefeated weeks, University of Texas at Tyler and Valdosta State remained atop the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Patriots (14-0) and the Blazers (9-2) were the unanimous No. 1 and No. 2 teams, receiving all 16 first- and second-place votes, respectively.
UT Tyler cruised to five run-rule victories, outscoring its opposition 60-7 with two shutouts. The Patriots recorded a Division-II program record 19 runs in a shutout of Arkansas Monticello. They also scored an 18-5 victory over Our Lady of the Lake.
VSU opened Gulf South Conference play with a three-game home sweep of then-No. 25 University of Alabama in Huntsville. The Blazers cruised to an 11-3 victory in the opener, before sliding by with 6-5 and 4-3 triumphs.
Concordia Irvine, which was idle, and North Georgia switch spots at No. 3 and No. 4. The NightHawks (11-3) posted a 3-1 weekend with two victories over Chowan (15-7 & 11-2) and splitting with University of South Carolina Beaufort (1-3 & 10-3).
No. 5 West Texas A&M ran its win streak to 10 games, opening its home schedule with a five-game sweep of its WT Invitational. The Lady Buffs (11-2) cruised to four run-rule victories, one of which saw WT post 25 runs against Fort Lewis (25-3) ,before rallying past Adams State for a 4-3 victory to close out the weekend.
No. 6 Minnesota State split games on Sunday. The Mavericks (5-2) topped Northwest Missouri State, 11-3, but were edged later in the day by Central Missouri, 4-3.
Angelo State and Indianapolis rose to a tie for No. 7. The Rambelles (15-1) pushed their winning streak to 14 games with five wins, three against Texas A&M International in non-conference action and two more versus New Mexico Highlands. The Greyhounds (7-1) did not surrender a run and the offense put up 39 runs as they went 4-0 at the Music City Invitational.
No. 9 Grand Valley State and No. 10 Augustana were idle. No. 11 Lincoln Memorial, No. 12 Rogers State, No. 13 Tampa, No. 17 Texas A&M-Kingsville and No. 19 Anderson all moved up in the poll.
Texas A&M University-Commerce returned to the rankings at No. 25, while UAH dropped out.
