LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Georgian Court’s Kaitlyn Stufft and Adelphi’s Lindsey Hibbs were named NFCA’s Division II Louisville Slugger Player and Wilson Pitcher of the Week. They are being recognized for their outstanding performances during contests played March 21-27.
Stufft went 9-for-19 at the plate with four home runs and 12 RBI helping Georgian Court to a 5-1 week. She recorded at least one hit and one run in all six contests. After homering in game one versus Nyack, Stufft doubled and drove in six runs in the nightcap. She also homered in both ends of a twinbill versus Kutztown and added her final long ball and two RBI in the week’s finale against Felician. The sophomore first baseman was perfect in the field recording 34 putouts. Stufft currently leads the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with nine home runs and 33 RBI.
Hibbs played a part in five of Adelphi’s six victories last week. She finished 3-0 with a 0.30 ERA and two saves. Hibbs struck out 29, walked three and surrendered just one run over 23.1 innings of work. The junior righty twirled a perfect game (8 K), the second of back-to-back perfectos against St. Thomas Aquinas. Hibbs, a native of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, tossed a six-inning complete game two-hit shutout on the road at Southern New Hampshire, striking out eight. Hibbs currently leads the Northeast-10 Conference with 100 strikeouts and three saves.
The Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee, which consists of two head coaches from each of the NCAA’s eight regions. To be eligible, student-athletes must be nominated by their member head coach.
