LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Central Oklahoma’s Rylee Lemos and East Stroudsburg’s Sarah Davenport captured the Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors for contests played Feb. 24-March 2.
Lemos keyed the Broncho offense during a 7-1 week, batting .586 (17-for-29) with four doubles, five home runs, 10 RBI and 13 runs scored. She was a perfect 4-for-4 swiping bases, finishing with a 1.241 slugging percentage and .613 on-base percentage. Lemos homered in four of the eight games and was a triple short of the cycle against Maryville, a contest in which she homered twice and drove in five runs. She added two RBI against Wayne State College and Minnesota State.
Davenport twirled the first perfect game in program history against Jefferson and finished the week 2-0 with two shutouts and 24 strikeouts over 10 innings of work. She surrendered just two hits and did not walk a batter. Against Jefferson, the sophomore hurler retired all 15 batters she faced, striking out 11. In her first start of the week, Davenport registered a two-hit shutout against Bloomfield in which she was responsible for 13 of the 15 outs via strikeout and faced just two batters over the minimum.
