LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The first NCAA program to reach 40 wins this year, West Texas A&M is the latest No. 1 program in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Lady Buffs (40-2) are riding a 20-game win streak and own the most victories across all three divisions.
WT, which held the No. 1 ranking for four weeks in 2024, collected four more Lone Star Conference (LSC) wins sweeping home and away doubleheaders from Midwestern State, bringing its conference mark to a league-best 30-2. As of April 6, the win streak is tied with new-No. 12 Southern Arkansas for the longest in Division II and second across all three divisions.
Second-ranked Tampa (33-3) slipped to No. 2 after dropping its Sunshine Conference Series at new-No. 15 Nova Southeastern. The 15th-ranked Sharks (30-10) halted the Spartans’ 28-game winning streak with a 1-0 victory in game one. After UT blanked NSU, 8-0, in game two, the Sharks (30-10) earned the series victory with a 2-1 triumph in the rubber match.
UT Tyler and Francis Marion remained at No. 3 and 4, while Central Oklahoma moved past Auburn Montgomery for the fifth spot. UT Tyler (34-3) swept Saint Edward’s on the road, while FMU (35-3) took both ends of a twinbill from Mount Olive. The latter has won 14 straight and 31 of its last 32 games.
The fifth-ranked Bronchos (33-6) notched four more Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) wins last week to reach the 30-win plateau, while No. 6 AUM won a tightly-contested Gulf South Conference series against Valdosta State in which all three contests were decided by one run.
The final four spots of the top 10 remained intact with No. 7 Angelo State, No. 8 North Georgia, No. 9 East Stroudsburg and No. 10 Harding.
Red-hot Southern Arkansas (30-5) continued its bull rush up the rankings, climbing another five spots to 12th after earning its 30th win of the season against No. 10 Harding on April 6. On the opposite end, Rogers State (28-11) plummeted six positions to No. 17 after a 3-1 week and is 6-4 over its last 10.
Three programs make an appearance for the first time this season with No. 20 Saint Leo, No. 22 Tiffin and No. 25 Pace joining the top 25. The Lions (30-9), who swept Florida Southern last weekend, have won eight straight and 22 of their last 23 since opening the season 8-8.
The No. 22 Dragons (25-9) have won 14 of their last 15 contests and are ranked for the first time since 2011 (18th). The 25th-ranked Setters (20-8), who are riding a 14-game winnings streak, are nationally-ranked for the first time in program history
