LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Riding an NCAA-best 28-game winning streak, the University of Tampa ascended to No. 1 in this week’s NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Spartans (32-1) have won 29-consecutive games dating back to Feb. 7 and return to the top spot for the second time in program history (2023).
Tampa ended UT Tyler’s season-long hold on No. 1, following its three-game sweep of Florida Southern and the Patriots (32-3) splitting a Lone Star Conference (LSC) series at St. Mary’s.
UT’s three victories over the Moccasins completed a fifth league-series sweep of 2025. It also improved the Spartans’ home record to 26-1, with their only loss of the season coming on Feb. 7 in game one of a doubleheader versus West Alabama. Tampa’s first-ever No. 1 ranking came in 2023 when it held the top spot for the final four weeks of the regular season.
West Texas A&M, which is riding a 16-game win streak, moved into the No. 2 spot, previously held by Tampa. The Lady Buffs (36-2) scored a total of 57 runs in a pair of twinbill sweeps at Eastern and Western New Mexico. The 36 wins are the most across all three NCAA divisions.
UT Tyler dipped to No. 3 after splitting against the Rattlers, while Francis Marion, Auburn Montgomery, Central Oklahoma and Angelo State held firm at No. 4 through 7. The Patriots (33-3) swept Lander and Belmont Abbey to extend their winning streak to 16 games, third longest in Division II. The Warhawks (24-8) went 4-1 last week with their only defeat a 2-1 eight-inning loss at West Florida.
The Bronchos (29-6) were 4-2 on the road, sweeping Missouri Western, but splitting at Southeastern Oklahoma and Northwest Missouri.
The seventh-ranked Rambelles picked up four LSC road wins against UT Permian Basin and Sul Ross State. The 10-1 game one victory was a historic one, as Angelo State head coach Travis Scott earned his 1,000th career collegiate win. Game two witnessed Scott reaching 900 wins as the Rambelles’ skipper.
North Georgia (28-7) moved up a spot to No. 8, while No. 9 East Stroudsburg and No. 10 Harding make their first appearances of 2025 in the top 10.
No. 22 Southern Arkansas (26-5), No. 24 Mississippi College (24-8) and t-No. 25 West Chester (16-5) joined the rankings this week. It’s the first time for the Muleriders and Golden Rams in 2025, while the 24th-ranked Choctaws return after being ranked in the preseason and after Week 1. SAU and MC own the second (tied) and fourth-longest win streaks in Division II at 16 and 15 games, respectively.
For the first time this season both Rogers State and Augustana are not in the top 10, falling to 11th (tie) and 13th, respectively.
Making the biggest climbs this week are No. 17 Southern Arkansas and No. 20 Flagler. The Muleriders (29-5) swept Henderson State on Great American Conference action and ran their win streak to 19 games, second longest active streak in Division II and third across all three divisions. The Saints (25-9), ranked for the first time since Feb. 27, 2013 (16th), have won eight of their last 10, which included two wins over then-No. 8 North Georgia and one versus then-No. 24 Barry.
