LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mississippi College made its return to the top 10, while North Georgia continued as the No. 1 program in this week’s 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The NightHawks (19-2) rolled to three more Peach Belt Conference wins at USC Aiken and received 15 first-place votes and 399 points.
West Texas A&M picked up its first first-place vote of the 2024 campaign after running its winning streak to 16 games. The Lady Buffs (20-1) are the first program to reach 20 wins in 2024 after sweeping a pair of Lone Star Conference series from Midwestern State and Texas Woman’s, outscoring their foes 59-8.
Rogers State moved into the No. 3 spot following four wins, three via shutout last week. The Hillcats (14-4) opened at home with doubleheader sweeps of Missouri S&T and Rockhurst. Tampa, which dropped two-of-three in Sunshine Conference (SSC) play at Palm Beach Atlantic, fell one spot to No. 4.
Grand Valley State, UT Tyler, idle Cal State San Marcos, Indianapolis and Colorado Christian remained in the No. 5 through 9 rankings, with Mississippi College at No. 10. The Lakers (8-3), Patriots (16-5) and Greyhounds (13-2) enjoyed undefeated weeks. The ninth-ranked Cougars (19-2) went 3-1 in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series versus Colorado Mesa.
The Choctaws (13-3) stepped out of Gulf South Conference (GSC) action and shutout Arkansas-Monticello in both ends of a home doubleheader. Making room for them in the top 10 was West Alabama, which was swept in GSC action at RV AUM. The Tigers (12-7) dipped to No. 13.
Continuing to make a rise in the rankings is No. 11 Wingate. The Bulldogs (19-4), who moved up three more spots this week, have won seven straight and 17 of their last 18 games. Last week, Wingate swept twinbills from Georgian Court and UVA Wise.
No. 14 Western Washington, No. 15 East Stroudsburg, No. 16 Pittsburg State, No. 17 Charleston and No. 18 Saint Leo, all improved two spots in the rankings.
The 2024 NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee. The committee consists of 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA’s eight regions. Results are through Sunday, March 3. The poll will be revealed on Tuesdays at Noon ET through the remainder of the regular season.
