LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Arizona’s Olivia DiNardo and Alabama’s Montana Fouts captured 2023 Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively. The duo was recognized for their outstanding performances for contests played Feb. 27-March 5.
DiNardo posted a .857 batting average (12-for-14) with 12 hits, five doubles, and five walks, leading the Wildcats to a 4-1 week hosting the Hillenbrand Invitational. She registered seven RBI, seven runs scored, drew five walks, posted an .895 on-base percentage and slugged 1.214. The San Mateo, Calif. native’s weekend was highlighted by a 7-for-7 performance in a pair of victories over Texas A&M-Commerce. DiNardo recorded career bests of four hits and two doubles in Arizona's first win over A&M-Commerce and tallied a career high three RBI in the Wildcats' second win over the Lions.
Highlighted by a perfect game, Fouts threw 19 shutout innings across three starts, allowing just four hits and four walks, while striking out 36. After six shutout innings on March 1 vs. Southern Miss and a complete-game shutout vs. Longwood on March 4, she twirled a six-inning perfect game in the rematch against the Lancers on Sunday, the third perfecto of her career. The Grayson, Ky. native extended her shutout streak to a career high 25 innings and recorded double-digit strikeouts in all three outings.
