LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas’ Reese Atwood and Oklahoma State’s Lexi Kilfoyl were named 2024 Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week, respectively. It marked the second honor in just three weeks for Atwood and the first for Kilfoyl. The duo is being recognized for their outstanding performances for contests played Feb. 19-25.
Atwood had another monster week at the plate for the No. 2 Longhorns as she hit .647 with a double, five home runs, 16 RBI and five runs scored. She recorded 11 hits, slugged 1.588, drew four walks (two intentional) and reached base at a .682 clip. The sophomore catcher homered off Stanford’s Nijaree Canady and also hit a pair against Colorado State (4 RBI). Atwood added another long ball and five RBI in a win over Houston Christian. She leads the NCAA with nine home runs, 1.447 slugging percentage and .632 batting average (10 or more at bats).
Kilfoyl twirled three complete game shutouts and scattered just six hits (all singles) over 21 innings of work. The first two shutouts came against then-No. 16 Florida and then-No. 4 Washington. The graduate hurler held the Gators to three hits, while fanning six and issuing her only two walks of the week. Facing off against the Huskies, Kilfoyl struck out four and limited UW to two base hits. She capped off her stellar week with a one-hit shutout (eight strikeouts) of Loyola Chicago. In her three appearances, she fanned 18 batters and held her opposition to a .089 batting average. At the plate, Kilfoyl recorded three RBI and a homer in four pinch-hit appearances.
The Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week are voted on by the NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll Committee.
