LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An undefeated trio of schools continue to lead the way in the NFCA Summer/Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Georgia’s East Coweta (24-0), Oklahoma’s Pocola (25-0) and Nebraska’s Gretna (27-0) kept rolling, with their combined 76-0 season mark setting the pace atop the national rankings. The No. 1 Indians were idle after beating their eight opponents over the previous two weeks by an 89-6 margin, but get back to action on Monday against Newnan.
No. 2 Pocola overwhelmed its four adversaries this week by a 38-2 margin, and the third-ranked Dragons averaged 10 runs while winning all three of their contests. East Coweta and Gretna have both won 34 of their last 36 games.
Weather permitting, a ranked matchup between No. 4 Buford (18-1) and No. 6 North Cobb (21-1) is slated for Saturday in Georgia. The Wolves have won eight straight since a 5-3 loss to Wesleyan on Sept. 4, while North Cobb is riding an 11-game win streak.
Seventh-ranked Broomfield (18-0) is the other unbeaten school in the Top 25. The Eagles scored a pair of lopsided shutouts this past week versus Monarch and Horizon.
Overall, the first nine teams in the rankings remained the same for a second week, including No. 9 Dale (34-1), which enjoyed a perfect 8-0 run over the last seven days.
Elsewhere, No. 16 Lincoln Southwest (21-3) gained two spots and No. 21 Blue Springs South (17-5) jumped three places after both compiled 6-0 weeks. The Jaguars are now ranked one spot ahead of Raymore-Peculiar after defeating the (14-5) Panthers 2-1 last Thursday.
State rankings submitted by the 2024 NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the NFCA Summer/Fall High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
