LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Melissa won two more games to remain undefeated and atop the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll for a second straight week.
The (19-0) Cardinals defeated Denison 15-0 last Friday and then blanked Lovejoy 10-0 on Tuesday. Melissa has scored eight runs or more in each of its last 13 games, and have not yielded a run over their last eight contests.
Meanwhile, No. 2 Calvary Baptist (21-0) kept pace, winning all five of their matchups by a combined 73-6 margin. The rest of the top eight remained unchanged ahead of new No. 9 Doral Academy (11-0) which surged six spots — one place for each victory it registered over the last week.
Perennial national power Lake Creek (17-0) finally made its 2025 poll debut in the No. 10 position.
The other four newcomers to the rankings — with a combined record of 39-1 — follow the Lions in spots 11-14. The only team with a loss in that group is No. 12 El Modena (9-1), whose lone defeat came in the Vanguards’ second game, 3-2 to Aliso Niguel on Feb. 27.
Ten teams in the Top 25 have yet to start their season. Five of those get rolling later this week.
State rankings submitted by the NFCA High School Steering Committee are used to compile the NFCA Spring High School Top 25 Coaches Poll. Teams are chosen based on performance, roster quality and strength of schedule.
