LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Avon’s (N.Y.) Jessie Crye, Zeeland West’s (Mich.) Madison Wyckoff, Jefferson Forest’s (Va.) Amelia Long, Mercy Academy’s (Ky.) Ava Reinhart and Bettye Davis East Anchorage’s (Alaska) Sela Rodriguez captured this week’s MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Spring Player of the Week honors. They are being recognized for their outstanding play during the week of May 19-25.

Crye garnered East Region honors for a second straight week after picking up three more victories for the Braves. She fanned 45 batters over 19 innings, allowing just six hits and two unearned runs while walking none. Crye struck out 19 in a four-hitter against Livonia, then 15 in a one-hitter versus Honeoye Falls-Lima and 11 more against Addison.

In the North, Wyckoff hit double digits in strikeouts in both ends of a doubleheader split with Holland Christian. She fanned 14 and walked none in a one-hitter in game one for the Dux, then struck out 13 more with one walk and four hits over 4.2 innings in the nightcap. She didn’t allow any runs in either appearance.

Meanwhile, Long was the South winner after a week during which she allowed just three hits across two games and 12 innings for the Cavaliers. The senior yielded just one hit over five innings while striking out 10 and walking none against Brookville, then fanned 16 over seven innings with two hits and a walk versus Liberty.

Reinhart was the choice in the South Central, hitting .857 (6-for-7) for the Jaguars with six runs scored, two doubles, a homer and six RBI. The senior collected three hits in both games, including 3-for-3 with a double and homer against Fairdale. Reinhart added a 3-for-4 effort with another double versus North Bullitt. She scored and drove in three runs in both victories.

In the West, Rodriguez went 5-for-5 in a pair of triumphs for the Thunderbirds. Both the junior’s hits against Dimond were homers and she had a double and another long ball among three hits versus Chugiak. Rodriguez scored five runs and drove in six for the week.
