LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Avon’s (N.Y.) Jessie Crye, Meigs’ (Ohio) Natalie Goode, Leonardtown’s (Md.) Claire Radford, South Warren’s (Ky.) Layla Ogden and Sherman Oaks CES’ (Calif.) Reagan Rosenthal captured this week’s MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Spring Player of the Week honors. They are being recognized for their outstanding play during the week of May 12-18.

Crye garnered East Region honors, averaging 13 strikeouts over four contests in a five-day span. She opened her week with 23 strikeouts in six innings last Monday against Keshequa, and followed that up with 16 versus Le Roy, 13 against Warsaw, and another 16 versus Geneseo. Cyre yielded just four unearned runs, 11 hits and six walks for the four games combined.

In the North, Goode allowed one hit over 12 innings while going 2-0 for the Marauders. The junior struck out 27 for the two games while walking just one of the 38 batters she faced. She fanned 11 in a one-hitter against West Union last Tuesday and 16 more Thursday in a perfect game versus Southern.

Meanwhile, the Raiders’ Radford was the South winner after going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, one hit, no walks and 28 strikeouts. The senior fanned 11 batters in a five-inning perfect game last Monday against North Point and had 17 strikeouts in a seven-inning one-hitter Thursday versus Broadneck.

Ogden was the choice in the South Central, shining on both sides of the ball for the Spartans. She went 2-0 in the circle and pitched a perfect game with 13 strikeouts last Thursday versus Larue County. For the week, the junior fanned 19 batters and allowed just one run on two hits over 11.2 innings. Meanwhile, she was a force on offense going 7-for-11 (.636) with six runs, a double, three homers and 10 RBI.

In the West, senior Rosenthal went 8-for-8 (1.000) with 11 runs, a double, two homers and seven RBI to earn recognition for the Knights. She had four hits and three RBI against Panorama last Monday, then four hits and three more RBI two days later versus Grant. Rosenthal got a hit in her only at-bat against East Valley on Thursday, but was walked twice and hit by a pitch twice, leading to four runs scored.
