LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Hernando Christian’s (Fla.) Rae Easton, Atlanta’s (Texas) Victoria Clayton and Hawthorne Math & Science’s (Calif.) Jenny Hess earned MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Player of the Week honors. The trio garnered recognition for games played Feb. 26-March 3.
Easton was a perfect 9-for-9 and reached base in all 11 plate appearances helping the Lions to three wins last week. The freshman registered nine RBI, 11 runs scored, two doubles and four triples. Easton was also 6-for-6 in stolen bases, five of those coming against Real Life Christian Academy. Against Weeki Wachee, she was 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two triples, five RBI and five runs scored. She added two more triples, four RBI and four runs versus Fivay.
Clayton hit .938 (15-for-16) with five doubles, three triples, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored. She drew five walks, attributing to a .952 on-base percentage, and slugged 1.625. Clayton matched a season high with four hits against Bowie and Horatio. In the latter contest, she scored a season-high four runs with two doubles and two RBI. Clayton also knocked in four runs with a triple versus Waldron.
Over a three-game stretch, Hess batted .867 (13-for-15) with four doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI and nine runs scored with six stolen bases. She was a perfect 6-for-6 with a pair of doubles, one round tripper and eight RBI with four runs scored. Against Lawndal Hess added six more RBI with her second homer of the week and three runs scored. She capped off the week going 4-for-4 with two runs versus Firebaugh.
