LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Parrish Community’s (Fla.) Isabella Yazzetti, Elkhart’s (Texas) Marisa Denny and Marquez’s (Calif.) Darla Sanchez captured 2025 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Spring Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon. They are being recognized for their outstanding play during the week of Feb. 24-March 2.
Yazzetti struck out 14 batters while tossing a no-hitter against Hardee last Tuesday to claim top honors in the South Region. In her other appearance for the Bulls, the senior walked one and allowed no hits or runs over 1.2 innings on Friday in a win over Fort Myers.
Meanwhile in the South Central, Denny was a perfect 9-for-9 at the plate for the Elks. The freshman scored 10 runs across three games, and had two doubles, a walk and six runs batted in. She collected four hits against both Wortham (four runs, double, four RBI) and Fruitvale (two runs, double, RBI), and just one hit versus Carlisle. But in that contest, Denny walked, was hit by two pitches and scored four runs.
Sanchez was the choice in the West Region following a week in which she collected two wins and allowed no hits while fanning 25 over 10 innings in the circle. The sophomore shut out Orthopaedic last Monday, striking out 16 of the 26 batters she faced, then fanned all nine batters over three innings against Wilson.
