LOUISVILLE, Ky. – West Scranton’s (Pa.) Kaleiah Connor, Breaux Bridge’s (La.) Gracie Hebert, Fredericksburg’s (Texas) Ava Stuewe and Mountlake Terrace’s (Wash.) Amaya Johnson captured 2025 MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Spring Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon. They are being recognized for their outstanding play during the week of March 10-16.
Connor earned the East Region’s first honor of the season, picking up two wins for the Invaders. She did struggle a bit with her control in the circle, walking six over seven innings and two appearances, but struck out 20 over that same span. She didn’t allow a hit in four innings against Greater Nanticoke Area on Wednesday and held Carbondale Area hitless over three innings on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Hebert had eight hits in eight at-bats and collected 13 RBI to claim top honors in the South Region. She scored seven runs, tripled and went deep three times over two games. Two of the homers and eight of the RBI came in a 29-2 victory over Opelousas, while the other five RBI and homer occurred in a 19-0 rout of St. Martinville. Hebert had four hits in both contests for the Tigers.
In the South Central, Stuewe was dominant over three appearances for the Billies. She struck out 11 and walked one in a 5-0 win over Lake Travis on Saturday. In two her two earlier games, Stuewe fanned four over 1.2 innings against Gonzales on Tuesday and six in two innings versus Bandera on Friday. She helped herself on offense, too, going 4-for-11 (.364) with three runs, a double, two homers and six RBI.
Johnson was the choice in the West Region following a week in which she was a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate with a double, four homers, four walks, 14 RBI and no strikeouts. The junior had a huge game — along with the rest of her teammates — in a 29-1 rout of Ingraham last Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with four runs, a double, three homers and 11 RBI. She followed that up with two more hits, including another homer, and three more RBI in a 11-9 victory over Marysville Getchell on Friday for the Hawks.
