LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Calvary Christian’s (Ga.) Madison Davis, Coahoma’s (Texas) Hannah Wells and Murrieta Mesa’s (Calif.) Lilly Hauser earned the first MaxPreps / NFCA National High School Player of the Week honors of the 2024 spring season. The trio garnered recognition for games played Feb. 19-25.

Davis was a perfect 11-for-11 at the plate with seven of those hits (two doubles, five triples) going for extra bases over three games last week. She slugged 2.000, scored nine runs and knocked in a pair. Davis went 3-for-3 with three runs scored in both ends of a doubleheader sweep of Lakeside School. She drove in two runs and tripled twice in game two. Against Chambers Academy, Davis recorded a double and two triples amongst her five base hits and scored three more times.

Wells batted .917 (11-for-12) with five multi-hit outings and reached base in 14 of her 15 plate appearances (.938 OBP) helping the Bulldogs to five wins. She registered six doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI and five runs scored. Both homers came against Temple and it marked one of Wells’ three contests with three RBI. She doubled twice versus Monterey and San Angelo Central. In the circle, Wells picked up two wins in three appearances, allowing an unearned run over 11 innings with 15 strikeouts, two walks and six hits allowed.

In the first five games of the season, Hauser batted .833 (10-for-12) and slugged 2.166 with a double, five home runs, 15 RBI and nine runs scored. She also was walked five times contributing to a .895 on-base percentage. Hauser started the season with a bang, homering twice and driving in seven runs during a 10-2 win over Los Altos. She also left the yard two more times, registered five RBI and scored three runs versus Cajon. Hauser posted a 3-0 mark with a 0.41 ERA, allowing three runs, one earned, in 17 innings, including a two-hit shutout with 18 strikeouts against JSerra Catholic.
