Notre Dame senior outfielder Stephanie Brown has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 1, the association announced Wednesday. Brown had an outstanding week at the plate for the Fighting Irish, hitting .722 (13-for-18) with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple and four RBIs. She also had 17 total bases on the week with a .944 slugging percentage and three stolen bases in as many attempts.
The Chandler, Ariz., product had two three-hit outings and a four-hit performance on the week as she collected multiple hits in four of the team’s five games.
The Irish’s leadoff hitter, Brown kicked off the week with a hit and a stolen base in a 4-1 win over Toledo. She followed that outing with a 5-for-7, two run, two RBI showing in a doubleheader sweep of Pittsburgh. Against the Panthers, she also doubled and stole a base as she collected her first three-hit game of the week.
In a conference sweep of Syracuse, Brown went 7-for-8 at the plate with three runs scored, two RBIs, a double and a triple. She collected another three-hit outing in the opener with Syracuse and her first four-hit game of the season in the second game of the twin bill.
On the season, Brown is hitting .477 with 24 runs scored, three doubles, two triples, eight RBIs, a .558 slugging percentage, a .531 on-base percentage and 10 stolen bases.
