LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2023) – The 2023 NFCA Convention kicked off on Wednesday at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville, home of the NFCA. Executive Director Carol Bruggeman and NFCA President Larissa Anderson (Missouri, head coach) welcomed the attendees and celebrated 40 years of the Association with a special tribute to the presidents and executive directors from the past and present as well as the 15 coaches who have been a member since the inception of the Association.
Bruggeman’s address to attendees touched on saying “Yes,” and showcasing the growth of the Association over the past 40 years, highlighted by record-breaking numbers in membership numbers, Convention attendees, Exhibit Hall booth and companies and sponsorships. It was capped off with an entertaining session featuring past leaders of the Association as they as joined Bruggeman on stage (via a walk-up song of their choosing) and answered a variety of questions of the history about softball and the Association.
Along with the previously-mentioned “First Pitch” Opening Welcome, first-time attendees were treated to a Rookie Orientation presented by Triple Crown Sports in which a panel of veteran coaches take attendees through the jam-packed schedule and highlighted must-attend events.
Several of the NFCA’s committees met in the afternoon and evening to discuss current and future business, while preparing for Divisional Caucuses on Thursday. Day one was capped off with an evening of socializing at the NFCA Opening Reception presented by Softball Prep Events and
Prior to the official opening, NFCC 402A (Advanced Analysis of Pitching) and 406 (Coaching Dynamic Team Practices) classes concluded with coaches completing their course work en route to obtaining certification to be a Four-Star Master Coach.
Business meetings, the first programming sessions and the Diamond/PGF 80s party highlight the first full day of action on Thursday.
