Florida State outfielder/pitcher Jessica van der Linden has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16.
"This is such an honor," said van der Linden. "It is great to be able to play well and help my team in whatever way I can. I am thankful for that and to the NFCA because this is a special honor."
Van der Linden, a junior from Cerritos, Calif., led Florida State to a 4-0 record and the championship of the Sunshine State Tournament. She hit .692 (9-for-13), scored three runs, hit two doubles, drove in five runs, had 11 total bases, slugged .846 and was on base 12 times in 16 at-bats (.750).
Against Middle Tennessee, she went 3-for-4 with three RBI?s and three runs scored in an 11-0 win over the Blue Raiders.
Van der Linden also shined inside the circle, going 2-0 in starts overIowa State and Middle Tennessee.
Against the Cyclones, she gave up three hits and one earned run in five innings of work. The junior struck out eight in a complete game performance against Middle Tennessee.
The Seminoles are 9-3 on the season and ranked No. 11 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll.Florida State continues its season at this weekend's NFCA Leadoff Classic.
