LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Coming off a record-breaking season, Park University Gilbert was named 2023 ATEC/NFCA NAIA National Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced on Monday afternoon.
In his first season, head coach Brandon Telesco, along with assistant coach Marisa Stankiewicz, guided the Buccaneers to a 36-14 overall record and 22-6 in California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) play. The overall and conference win totals were the most in the four-year history of the program. The 36 victories are two more than the 34 combined over the first three years of the program. Telesco, the Cal Pac Coach of the Year, guided Park-Gilbert to its first Cal Pac tournament appearance as the No. 2 seed and posted a 2-2 mark with wins over Antelope Valley and Simpson.
Representing each of the NAIA’s six NAIA regions, Park Gilbert (Region IV), along with Georgia Gwinnett College (Region I), Our Lady of the Lake University (Region II), Midland University (Region III), Baker University (Region V) and University of the Cumberlands (Region VI) earned ATEC/NFCA NAIA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year awards.
The national coaching staff of the year award is voted on by the member head coaches of the NFCA’s NAIA membership group. Telesco and Stankiewicz will be recognized at the NFCA Awards Brunch on Dec. 9 at the 2023 NFCA Convention in Louisville.
