LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Butte College (North) and Santa Ana College (South) were voted by their peers as the 2022 NFCA/Cal JC Regional Coach Staffs of the Year.

Stayce York, who is in her eighth season as head coach, has steered Butte to a 39-1 overall mark and a Golden Valley Conference title with a perfect 20-0 record. Riding a 31-game winning streak, the Roadrunners currently rank No. 1 in the 3CFCA NorCal Poll, No. 2 in the 3CFCA State Poll and are the No. 2 seed in the 2022 CCCAA Northern Regional. Along with tutelage from assistant coaches Jamie Engel, Kevin York and Mackenzie McKeehan, Butte is one of the top offensive teams in the CCCAA. The Roadrunners lead the Association with 468 hits, 322 RBI and just 46 strikeouts in 1,213 at bats. They also rank second with a .384 batting average, fourth with a .560 slugging percentage and sixth with a .431 on-base percentage.

Santa Ana, under the guidance of head coach Marissa Ross, captured the 2022 Orange Empire Conference regular-season and tournament championships. The Dons, who enter the 2022 CCCAA Southern Regional as the No. 4 seed, are 33-7 overall and finished 20-4 in league play. The ninth-ranked Dons knocked off sixth-ranked Cypress College, 3-2, to win their first-ever conference tournament title. Along with Ross, assistant coaches Alyssa Yglesias, Alexis Carmona, Alyssa Gutierrez and Josh Vargas played pivotal roles in Santa Ana’s success in 2022. 

The National Coaching Staff of the Year will be announced on Monday, May 23 following the conclusion of the 2022 CCCAA State Championship Tournament, May 19-22 in Bakersfield, Calif.
