LOUISVILLE, Ky. – College of San Mateo, the 3C2A State champions, was named the 2025 ATEC/NFCA Cal JC National Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced on Tuesday.
Under the direction of head coach Nicole Quigley-Borg, the Bulldogs captured their second state title in program history, the first coming in 2022. As the North Region’s No. 2 seed, CSM posted eight wins during its undefeated postseason run, which included three shutouts and six wins by three runs or less. At the state championship tournament, the Bulldogs won their four games by a combined nine runs, highlighted by a eight-inning walk-off victory in round two against Orange Coast. In the title game against Palomar, CSM erased an early 2-0 deficit and defeated the Comets 7-4.
Quigley-Borg, along with assistant coaches Dale Bassmann, Toby Garza, Matt Lawrence, Allie Stines, Randy Villazon and Emily McAdams guided the Bulldogs, who were ranked No. 3 in final 3CFCA rankings, to a 44-3 overall record and 22-2 mark in Coast Conference play, sharing the regular-season title with West Valley College. A dominant team on both sides of the ball, CSM had one of the top pitching staffs in the 3C2A with a league-best 1.06 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 26 shutouts and .181 batting average against. Offensively, they swiped a league-high 136 bases and were top five in several other categories, including runs scored (323 / 3rd), doubles (84 / 3rd), RBI (292 / 3rd), slugging (.505 / 4th), hits (433 / 4th) and home runs (26 / 4th).
Quigley-Borg and her staff will be recognized at the NFCA Awards Brunch on Dec. 13 at the 2025 NFCA Convention in Las Vegas.
